Meet Ruby Rain
Ruby Rain is a six-year-old girl who has no voice.
Ruby has Global Delay without Speech/Autism. She came into this world with numerous behavioural disorders. These behaviours are nested in her design, separate from her and her well-being.
There are many challenges that Ruby and her family have had to face:
- Depression
- Mental health
- Domestic violence
- Substance abuse
- Child poverty
- Disabilities
- Severe eczema
- Suicide
- Separation of Families
Ruby was four when she and her two siblings came into their grandmother’s care where they still reside today.
Today, Ruby is making steady progress with her wellbeing. Her home and school environments are strongly connected for the betterment of her future.
Ruby Rain’s whanau all support her by wearing Ko Au Designs.

This Korero is to acknowledge a very beautiful Mana Wahine Kim Owens, Kim is a staunch Mother and Nanny to her Tamariki and many Mokopuna. Kim has faced much adversity but she has remained passionate to her Kaupapa as she encourages her Whanau to make positive life choices to enhance their Health & Wellbeing. Creating this range of Kakahu with her Moko Ruby has been a life changing experience for Kim & her Whanau. With self-determination, dedication and focus Kim has been able to defy the odds and create something very special. Kim continues to forge ahead to encourage & inspire her Whanau and others around her.
